| WORKSHOP 1 DEVELOPING TEACHING PRACTICE Overview The aims of this unit require the learner to reflect on How they Learn, Think & Thrive in the classroom. The workshop examines various communication modes that are used to support learning skills. How & Why an understanding of Learning Strategies is important to reaching various learners and how this supports the educator. Syllabus Outline Defining and identifying innate useful skills. Examing the function and role of these skills. Enhancing learners' understanding of various strategies and aproaches. Teaching Methods Some units will be delivered through a programme of questioning / reflecting and interactive discussions. Learners will be asked to question their personal learning and thinking strategies then annotate their ideas afterwhich they will engage in group discussions concerning their own personal thoughts and inquiry. Group critiques are important as learners have the opportunity to display and discuss their work with peers. This gives the learner the opportunity to share and also exchange techniques, ideas as well as motivate and encourage each other. Instructional Method Inquiry-based Learning is often used in Science education. In this situation, it is used, amongst other methods, to support learners towards discovering knowledge independently.
